Lot of rage against tanks! Not but a few days ago, people laughed at my gunnlogi. For 6 months I drove that imbalanced piece of ****, and now look. Gods
I can't begin to tell you how many tanks I've blown up. Explosions, everywhere.
The speed is incredible, I drive like an LAV now.
There is actually such a thing as a tank battle! So many good fights, and missiles rock.
But
Infantry has kinda been left out in the cold, it would seem. Still need more time to determine that.
But a lot of the AV there have made some mistakes when it comes to dealing with tanks. It used to be, all you had to do was point, aim, and shoot the tank. Then, rather quickly, the tank would drop.
It would seem though a lot of you don't understand the new module setup. Example gunnlogi
3 High slots Active hardener x 2 (60% resist for like 24 seconds) Shield booster (Instantly regain 1900 shields)
2 Lows Ammo dump PG booster
Turret Missiles
Notice with this kind of setup, I depend upon my resists, not my HP to survive. What tends to happens, a proto swarm/forge gun hits me, and drops my shields down to nearly nothing. In just one shot, a forge gun can drop at the very least 1/2 of my shields, 3/4 is typical.
In just one or 2 shots, you can nearly wreck a tank, my personal experience. But, what happens, I turn on my shield booster, instantly regen full shields, turn on one hardener. Now you are doing maybe 1/16 damage to my total shields. First hardener drops, so you activate the second one. So for nearly a minute, a tank will hardly take damage. Then by the time my second hardener goes down, my first one is nearly back up, along with my booster.
So there is a very small window in which the tank is defenseless, 20 to 30 seconds. In this time, the tank will only take 3 or 4 shots to drop.
So I have to ask. Why the hell are the AV shooting a tank that clearly has it's hardeners up? Not once, has an AV chased me down (like they used to do!) and drop everything they had on me when I was down. No, the AV want to sit at the point and drive away tanks/blow them up.
AV HAS to be more aggressive. Lot of whining but the AV are not ADAPTING. You used to be able to sit on your high point, and rain destruction down on tanks. Now you need to take some action, and actively hunt tanks out.
I'll be pulling my swarms out tonight to see what the fuss is about!

So if I understand right, the AV player is supposed to start attacking the tank giving away his location while the tank quickly becomes near invincible for a period of time, then during a very small window that will eventually come (but we don't know when) we are to chase it down and give it all we've got. Presumably the tank will actually be firing back at the AV player the entire time standing there and laughing. Adapt or be stupid, you say? It seems to me the AV player is only stupid if he chooses to play AV at all. Everybody is going to play tanks now. I'm considering it myself. This maybe exactly what CCP wants, so no reason to get upset about it. I just wish they would allow 20+ tanks on the field at once. 5 or 6 per side just isn't enough. infantry, lol. suckers.
You also need to understand, not everyone is running BLASTERS. My missiles, while killing infantry with them, is very ineffective against infantry. So it's not like you don't stand a chance face to face with a tank. Same with a rail gunner. Plus reloads for tanks are painfully slow.
And now, you don't HAVE to chase it. Think of it this way.
Where does the tank go when waiting on cooldowns? That's where you want to be, or that's where you want to set up for an ambush.
Or you can catch one in the open, force him to use reppers.
The key though is forcing those reppers on!
And if you are playing in a team, let everyone know when hardeners are up and when they are down. No need wasting shots.
People called the gunnlogi ****, but I stuck with it and used superior tactics to overcome my foes (Maddies).
And yes, chase them down. It is called a LAV with a Injector.

To OP: You asked why do AV keep shooting tanks despite the hardeners, and as someone who has been doing this, I have to say it is to maintain suppressing fire. Even with the hardeners on, a tank won't just sit and let you shoot at it. Even if I'm not doing much damage, it pushes the tank back.
It is still possible to solo tanks, it is just a lot harder. FG and SL need to be used together.
Thank you, I agree. Maintaining pressure is a good way to force a tank back.
Against a blaster tank, close range engagements are rough, I know. But there are plenty of missile and rail tanks out there. What I say though, if you really want to lay down the hurt, let those hardeners expire. You have a very clear visual when a hardener is active. Thing is, you want a full clip ready for that moment. Honestly guys, my gunnlogi nearly drops in 2 or 3 forge shots.
With my rail, I'm popping guys in 3 shots. First shot forces on a hardener, I back off, reposition from a different angle and boom. They usually don't have enough time to back up. That window may seem brief, but tanks go down far far faster than they used to.
Pulling me some proto swarms out, to see what damage they can do. Heard there was a bug with gunnlogis passive recharge repping through swarm fire. That could pose problems.
So many AV just give up in a match. Let's give it a week N see eh. Not going to adapt, if you just give up!

Swarms SHOULD be doing more damage then they are to shields, I agree.
But I have seen proto swarms do some heavy damage against my gunnlogi, before I activated the hardener. Stacking damage mods seems very important.
